Outrage As Armed Officers Arrest LASU Student Who Accused Landlord Of Sexual Harassment, Death Threats
There is growing outrage after a female student of Lagos State University (LASU), who had accused her landlord of sexual harassment and threats to her life, was forcefully arrested by suspected police officers.
Viral videos shared by a Facebook user, Obi Franklin, show the student being dragged and bundled into a vehicle by men in police uniforms, one of whom was visibly armed with an automatic rifle.
The men allegedly told neighbours they were taking her to the Zone 2 Police Command.
However, her current whereabouts remain unknown, raising serious concerns about her safety.
Franklin, in his post, alerted human rights groups, celebrities, and student bodies, tagging Human Rights Watch, VeryDarkMan, LASU Students Association, and the Nigeria Police Force.
He wrote: “The LASU student that had a case with her landlord — threats and oppression — has been arrested forcefully by men dressed as security officers, with one seen holding an automatic rifle, to an unknown destination. They told her neighbours they were from Zone Two. Please share until the IGP of Police and the VC of Lagos State University see this.”
Earlier reports revealed that the student had released a video accusing her landlord of threatening to kill her after she rejected his sexual advances.
In the clip, the distressed student confronted her landlord, who allegedly responded with threats and suggested that ₦500,000 could be used to settle the matter.
The confrontation reportedly happened at her residence.
Social media activist, VeryDarkMan, who previously visited the student’s Igando residence, confirmed that the landlord runs a sachet water (pure water) factory.
He claimed the issue extended beyond sexual harassment, pointing to health and safety concerns.
“No be only the girl the man wan kpai ooo, na everybody wey dey drink him water he wan kpai,” he said in a viral video, urging NAFDAC to inspect the facility.
As of the time of this report, the Lagos State Police Command and LASU authorities have yet to comment on the arrest or the student’s location.
