Outrage As GTBank Faces Bank Transfer Glitches

Scores of Nigerians have taken to social media, particularly their X handles (formerly Twitter), to express outrage over persistent transfer issues involving Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB).

Customers lamented failed transactions and delays in reflecting successful transfers, prompting widespread frustration and criticism of the bank’s operations.

The issue was highlighted in a notification issued by OPay, a popular mobile payment platform, advising its users to avoid transferring funds to GTB accounts due to the delays. OPay further recommended using alternative banks or OPay accounts for transactions until the situation is resolved.

In a notice seen by Osun Defender, Opay stated, “We have observed that successful transfers to GTB are not reflecting at the moment. It is recommended that you transfer to an alternative bank or an Opay account. ”

This development has not gone down well with many Nigerians, who accused GTB of failing to address recurring technical glitches in its banking system.

Social media was awash with complaints from customers who claimed their funds were stuck in limbo.

@DanielOnosIT: @gtbank does not have time for customers anymore. They don’t even reply emails. My Monday has been missing for weeks. No update
Nothing whatsoever

@GodswayChika: GTBank is in deep financial situation, they need to get this resolved quickly or it’s over for the Bank. Perception is reality and banking industry is a sector driven by perception, once the people smell something unusual, they will react immediately. The brand is weakened now

@edo_1122: Most of these banks are useless to society. What they are only useful for is to be keeping money. Go to the Bank to assist you to grow your business they will be asking you for unrealistic collateral. There should be new Banks that will encourage the country to grow

@amchinaecherem: My 10k dey hang for almost a month now. @OPay_NG and @gtbank_help dey use me play. I no go forget am for Una.

@hormopelebi: Gtbank is just frustrating my life 😩😩😩😩

@_Matriach: Opay releasing a disclaimer on their app that transactions to GTBank are not reflecting and people should use alternative banks when they’re sending money, is the saddest thing I’ve seen in a long time.
How the mighty has fallen.
A whole GTBANK.

@danTiana42: Gt is loosing its touch 😔 it should remedy its situation ASAP

@FineAgabus: I transferred 5k to @gtbank to get food on Wednesday. Till this hour it hasn’t been reflected. I had to borrow money to eat.

I’m closing it after this. Let me get my token from them

@oneblacklawyer: @gtbank has been an embarrassment lately. I still cannot explain how my money disappeared from the bank
