Students in Osun State have appealed to the management of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, to clarify the studentship status of one of its graduates who is still parading himself as an active student.

According to the students, the graduate in question, Peter Oluwadamilola Bamigboye, with matriculation number, 20/MCH/3754, is currently undergoing his one-year mandatory National Service.

They said Bamigboye is set to contest as the Public Relations Officer of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) representing the institution, as the Convention Planning Committee has cleared him to run.

Some of the students who spoke with OSUN DEFENDER under the condition of anonymity said the management of Osun State Polytechnic should verify Bamigboye’s status, as he is still parading himself as an active student of the institution.

“It’s saddening that graduates have dominated student association elections. The management of Osun State Polytechnic should please come out and tell us if Peter Oluwadamilola Bamigboye is still one of their active students.

“We have it on a good authority that he is currently serving as a corps member. The position he is contesting for is solely for active students. OSPOLY Management should come out and clear the air,” the student said.

But speaking with OSUN DEFENDER in a telephone interview, the CPC chairman, Comrade Segun Olanrewaju, said any aggrieved student should come up with a petition, saying the process is ongoing.

Olanrewaju noted that the clearance was based on documents presented to the CPC for screening by the aspirants.

He, however, hinted that another round of verification will be conducted before the convention day.
