Osun State Polytechnic, Iree is undoubtedly a tertiary institution where greatness is made. It is the orbit of hard work, resilience, perseverance and discipline. It has birthed many fulfilled professionals, entrepreneur and leaders in different fields, who are contributing immensely to the growth of Nigeria society and the world entirely.
Awesomely, in OSPOLY, there is greatness in greatness! One of the many greatness in Osun State Polytechnic, Iree is the illustrious department of Electrical Electronic Engineering. The Elect-Elect Department has distinguished itself as a formidable force to be reckoned with. Its landmark achievements is a testament to the humility, selflessness, professionalism and super work ethics of lecturers in the department, especially the Head of the Elect-Elect Department, Engr. Omotayo Mayowa.
One of the remarkable work by the department was the Solar Power Installation Project done in February, 2024.
The Rector of the institution, Mr Kehinde Alabi on February 14, 2024 had during the opening of the Solar Power Installation Project, expressed delight in the completion of the solar power project.
Mr Alabi while speaking then, said, “This is a pace-setting project in this institution, we are happy for this landmark achievement, many companies left Nigeria because of lack of innovation, this is a good step in the right direction, we would love to extend this to other areas of the institution.”
As recent as July 22, 2024, the Electrical and Electronic Engineering department made being extraordinary a daily event when it commenced skill acquisition program to equip students of the department with practical skill which will enable them standout among their pairs and to be financially stable.
These exemplary momentum by Electrical Electronic Engineering department is impossible without the indefatigable leadership of lecturers of the department. It is an act of appreciation and thoughtfulness that students of the department presented leadership award to outstanding lecturers of the department.
Like the biblical allusion, “…. whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap.” Students are not dumb, students are not ingrates, neither are they insensitive to actions of lecturers, and this is why it is important for lecturers to be committed to their calling, to fend for students as though they are their children.
One of the awardees is Engr. Lawal A.O whom the students honoured for his ‘Outstanding contribution’.
The students acknowledged Engr. Lawal ability to push students beyond their limit, adding that he always remind them that “Success is a journey, not a destination.”

Apart from Engr. Lawal, another sui generis in the Elect-Elect department is Engr. Ogunwuyi O.J. who was also awarded for his contributions.
With him, the sky is the starting point. Ogunwuyi believes that “Whatever Your Mind Can Conceive and Believe, It Can Achieve,” the students said.
Also, Bisiriyu A.O of the department was honoured by the students who described him as a man of humility.
“In all honesty, if simplicity and humility were human being, it would be no other person but Engr. Bisiriyu A.O of the Elect-Elect Department. Bisiriyu is calm, gentle and friendly. His charming appearance is also one thing you cannot take away from him. His love for his students earned him ‘Excellence in Teaching’ award,” noted the students.
Speaking on other lecturers who were awarded for their outstanding contributions, the students said, “With the taxing nature of lecturing, it would not be out of the moon for a lecturer to be hostile and naggy, and that is why the openness and approachability of Engr. Olaoye O.T has remained a puzzle that has remained unsolved. He is open to suggestions, questions and concerns of students, always giving them listening ears won him award for ‘Most Approachable Lecturer’.
“Talking of support and encouragement, Engr. Ajetunmobi E.O is one body full of courage, passion and motivation. If he is involved, no project is left halfway, regardless of how tedious the project may seem, he always finishes whatever he started. His zeal for perfection and success has positively shaped and inspired his students to never quit. He won the award for ‘Most Supportive Lecturer.
“Another unique lecturer that was given a leadership award in the department of Electrical Electronic Engineering department is Engr. Oyajide D.O. He is funny, incredible and his dynamic style of lecturing makes it impossible for students not to understand his course. Engr. Oyajide won the leadership award for ‘Favorite Lecturer.’
“Nevertheless, the HOD, Elect-Elect, Engr. Omotayo Mayowa is a nice, jovial, cheerful and friendly lecturer. His fatherly nature is phenomenal. He goes extra length to ensure that his students are happy. All the achievements recorded in electrical electronic engineering department is possible because of his innovation and improvisation. One statement that Engr. Omotayo may never stop saying, inasmuch he is still in the job of lecturing is “I am here for the student.” His unique transformative leadership style is enviable. Engr. Omotayo won award for ‘Best HOD/ Father of the Students award’.”
