Over 10 Million out of school children in Nigeria will in the nearest future return to school as Rochas Education Aid and Development Initiative (READ) begins operations in January 2020.
READ, a subset of Rochas Foundation seeks to be at the forefront in achieving the goal of getting the children back to school through partnerships with government, NGOs and other stakeholders.
At a press briefing on Wednesday, the Rochas Foundation called for various contributions from all and sundry just as it unveiled its plans to provide grants for 1,000 indigenous foundations that are making evident impact in ensuring the right of education for all is sustained and religiously safeguarded.
The foundation since inception 21 years ago has been committed to seeking the goal of prosperity for the downtrodden and the less privileged in the society with more than 20,000 kids benefitted from its education scheme.
It has also has 6,110 kids currently enjoying the free education combined with aids while the Rochas Foundation College For Africa kicked off in 2017 now has 148 kids from 19 different countries with scholarships going to at least five indigent kids from each of the fifty five African countries.
“We have also been committed to providing succour to the less privileged with periodic visits to IDP camps, outreaches among other numeorus initiatives of the Foundation to make for a better society.”
“As it is impossible for the foundation to accommodate all the 15 million children, we seek to address the situation by spearheading concerted efforts with the support of the relevant stakeholders as well as interested civil society and non governmental organizations to achieve this aim.”
“We are using this medium to also call on the Federal Government to collaborate with state governments and our foundation with other stakeholders to get these kids; Nigeria’s potential future leaders to school.”
