A stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikire, Mr. Ademola Owoade, popularly known as ‘Eni Wa’ has declared his intention to contest the 2023 Osun State House of Assembly election to represent Irewole/Isokan State Constituency.
Owoade made his declaration on Tuesday in Ikire, headquarters of Irewole Local Government, at his birthday programme that witnessed large turnout of party chieftains, National delegates of the APC, members and representatives of major ethnic groups.
According to the APC stalwarts, his declaration was as a result of extensive consultation with various stakeholders in Irewole/Isokan constituency, who include traditional rulers, leaders of Community Development Committee (CDCs), Community Development Association (CDAs), traders’ unions and market men and women.
Speaking at the event, Owoade disclosed that his declaration was in the interest of democracy, good governance and quality representation for his constituents, seeking the support of the people for the actualisation of his aspiration.
He said: “I decided to contest after having a clear understanding and knowing that a legislator is purely elected to better the lots of his constituent members. That is like giving me an official platform to carry out what I have been doing and would like to continue doing it in a larger scale.
“I have adequately prepared myself to ensure after being elected, with effective and skillful deployment of official means of lobbying, the rights and privileges of our constituents are not negotiated away.”
