The last entrant into the Osun governorship race under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Bola Oyebamiji stole the show at the commissioning of Ayedaade High School, Ikire on Tuesday, as thousands of party members stormed the venue of the ceremony shouting his name.
It would be recalled that community leaders in Irewole and Isokan local government areas only last week obtained governorship intention form for Oyebamiji, the state Commissioner for Finance, a development which has since changed political permutations and calculations.
All efforts by newsmen to get the view of Oyebamiji regarding the declaration by the people of Irewole and Isokan that he has been anointed by the people of the area to vie for APC governorship ticket proved futile, as the crowd milling around him impeded his movement.
However, several APC members that commented on the resolution by Oyebamiji’s kinsmen to drag him into the race, said the decision was reached after weeks of meetings by major stakeholders in the affairs of the communities.
One of them, Alhaji Tejumade Olagunju, said Oyebamiji has proven to be reliable and truthful over the years, hence the decision to support his governorship aspiration.
“We know him and trust him. West agenda is real and we can’t give the rest of Osun no less a quality individual after what we have seen Aregbesola done in the last 8 years. We have looked round and found Bola Oyebamiji to be the best”, he concluded.
Another leader from the zone, Alhaji Ganiyu Oyeladun said people in the communities believe so much in Oyebamiji and they have vowed to support him to clinch the governorship seat come September 22.
Oyeladun who said Oyebanji had never thought of contesting the poll added that he was only persuaded to contest due to his pedigree and track records.
“He is so humble, passionate about the welfare of the people regardless of religious or political affiliations, and this is a lesson we should all learn that whatever we are doing people are watching us”, Oyeladun concluded.
Echoing a similar view, Mr Ajibade Sarafadeen, who hails from Isokan Local Government area, Apomu, maintained that the people of the area are backing Oyebamiji and are putting everything into it to support him to victory.
Sarafadeen who enjoined the rest of Osun to support Oyebanji, said he is the only one that perfectly fit into the shoe that would be left behind by the incumbent governor.
“He is a technocrat, a honest man. For the whole community to have done this for him, it means he is loved by all.
“We believe so much in Bola Oyebanji, he has been tested to be competent, he has no political blemish. He is honest, loyal and very passionate about the welfare of the people regardless of where you come from,” Sarafadeen concluded.
