Cadets of the State of Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme, OYES, have called for the continuity of the scheme, describing it as a rare opportunity for the youths of the state.
During an interview with a cross section of OYES volunteers, the cadets revealed that the scheme has impacted their lives positively in various ways. While some have used the money realized from the scheme to boost their business, others established with it and others even built houses with it.
Commending the state government led by Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the cadets expressed their hope that the scheme would continue even after the present administration, adding that the crime rate in the state would increase if the scheme gets scrapped.
According to Ojo Sunday, one of the cadets ,”I commend our Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for the wonderful scheme, it has helped several people including myself. With the money i got from the scheme, i was able to buy a land and it is now under construction.
“We implore the State Government to ensure the continuation of the programme. If OYES is scrapped, there will be problems, crime rates will also increase in the state as does looking forward to partake in the scheme will not be chanced and they might start constituting nuisance in the state.”
