Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State has described the late Mrs. Florence Eniola Adekunle known in political circles as Iya Ajinde, as a dogged politician, whose place will be hard to fill.
The governor made this known today while condoling with the family of the late politician and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State, especially those of Osun East Senatorial District.
In a condolence message signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ismail Omipidan, the governor said the demise of Iya Ajinde was not only a loss to her family but also to the entire State, especially the progressives.
“As she is buried today, we pray that God grant her eternal rest and give the immediate family and the progressives in the State the strength to bear the irreplaceable loss,” the governor said.
Iya Ajinde was until her death a stalwart of the APC in Ilesa East Local Government Area of the state.
An energetic and committed party loyalist , the late political mobiliser was one rare politician who deployed all her resources to serve God and humanity.
She started off as a teacher in 1978 before her foray into politics. She served variously as a Welfare Officer of the defunct Alliance for Democracy (AD), Ilesa East Local Government, Supervising Councillor for Works as a member of Caretaker Committee of Ilesa East Council between 2002 and 2003 and as a member of Oranmiyan Group.
She was also a member of Osun House Rent Tribunal from year 2012 to 2018 and a member of Osun State Women Empowerment Board from 2012 to 2015.
Similarly, she served as the Chairperson of the Women Wing of Ileri-Oluwa Campaign Organisation.
