Oyetola Directs MDAs To Send Back Workers Who Fail To Use Face Masks

Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the State of Osun has directed Accounting Officers of various Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the state government to send back any worker who fails to use face mask while on duty, regardless of their levels.

Oyetola also directed the accounting officers to also turn down business transactions from visitors without face masks.

The directive was contained in a circular from the Office of the Head of Service, dated June 16, 2020 and signed by the Permanent Secretary, S. A Aina on behalf of the Head of Service.

The circular was directed to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff,  Deputy Chief of Staff, Commissioners and Special Advisers, Chairmen of Boards and Statutory Commissions, Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Non-Ministerial Departments,  among others.

The governor also directed security personnel in all government premises, tertiary institutions, hospitals, local government areas, among others to ensure anyone accessing them wears a face mask.

It reads: “Further to our earlier circular dated 5th of June, kindly be informed that the Governor, State of Osun has directed, with immediate effect, the wearing of face masks by all government workers at all levels while on duty and that any staff who fails to comply should be sent home by the accounting officer.  In addition, all visitors who come around for business transactions must forthwith put on their face masks, otherwise, such business(s) should be turned down.

“The Governor has further directed the security personnel in all government premises (including those outside the state secretariat), tertiary institutions, hospitals, local government areas, etc should ensure proper stop and check at all entrances to their premises with a view to ensuring that all persons transacting businesses therein have their face masks on.

“All accounting officers of ministries, departments and council managers are requested to draw the attention of their staff to the contents of this circular and ensure strict compliance by all.”
