Oyetola Warns Against Heavy Reliance On Fed Allocation

By Islamiat Kehinde

Osun Governor-elect, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, has warned states of the federation that the customary federal allocation to states may cease sooner than expected.

He said that to this extent, his administration after taking over would explore ingenuis way to improve on revenue generation of which the civil servants would play leading role.

Speaking at a special thanksgiving organised in his honour by civil servants in the State, Oyetola described civil servants Osun as the best throughout the country, as he expressed gratitude to and commended workers in the state for their supports during the elections.

The event held at Aurora Events Centre, Osogbo, attracted dignitaries including the State deputy governor, Mrs. Titi Laoye-Tomori, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Rasak Salinsile, other cabinet members, the Head of Service (HoS), Dr. Olowogboyega Oyebade, permanent secretaries, and other state functionaries.

According to him, his administration would redouble efforts at further smoothening relationships with workers, noting that their services remained at the very core of success or otherwise of administrations.

Oyetola urged workers in the state to work harder and generate more revenues for the state, noting this would ease the government’s statutory tasks of payment of salaries and emoluments, even as such would aid friendly atmosphere in the state.

Commending the HoS as the best among the lot he had worked with so far, the governor-elect who explained the state had the best civil service in the country, pledged, “I will improve my relations with workers in the state and raise the bar of governance.”

Laoye-Tomori described the governor-elect as the brain behind the innovation which prevented the untoward during the salary payment crisis, adding that he was ever humble, amiable, gentle, brilliant and approachable.
