Oyetola’s Appeal Court Victory Spark Wild Jubilations In Osogbo

The Court of Appeal victory of Osun State Governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola has sparked celebrations and solidarity rallies by various interest groups on Thursday.

Interest group celebrating Oyetola’s judicial victory apart from the Governor himself include ; members of Osun Concerned Citizens, Okada Riders’ Association Market Men and Women, Asiwaju Grassroot Foundation (AGF) Oranmiyan Group among others.

They had marched around the major streets of Osogbo, the state capital amidst drumming, singing and dancing thanking God for the Governor’s victory at the Court of Appeal.

The Appellate court in Abuja had on Thursday morning upheld the victory of Oyetola, of the All Progressives Congress in the September 22, 2018 governorship election against the judgement of the Election Petition Tribunal which nullified his victory.

Addressing the journalists, Yaya Ademola, General Secretary, Osun Concerned Citizens assured that the victory of Oyetola would spur him to double his efforts at delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of the state.

He further said that the APC and its candidate , Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola have been vindicated by the Court of Appeal of majority of four out of five Justices that’ the Tribunal ruled in favour of an unpopular candidate and party in Osun’.

He said : “You will recall that we reacted with the mass but peaceful protest to the Jankara Verdict of the Osun 2018 Gubernatorial Election Petition Tribunal delivered on Friday 22nd March, 2019 with which a majority of 2 of the 3 member Panel declared Mr. Ademola Adeleke of the People Democratic Party as the winner of the September 22nd, 2018 Governorship Election.

“Although, We are happy that we have been vindicated by the Court of Appeal of majority of four out of five Justices that the Tribunal ruled in favour of an unpopular candidate and party in Osun, we are not excited that we were unduly taken for a ride by the Sakamanje Tribunal Ruling.

“If the PDP goes ahead to contest the Appeal verdict at the Supreme Court, it shall meet its waterloo again and again as nothing can be built on nothing! Osun Concerned Citizens stands for Democracy and Justice. The Appeal Court ruling today, Thursday, 9/5/19, has attested to the Osun Electorate majority decision voting Mr. Gbenga Oyetola as the Governor.

“We therefore enjoin Osun people to go about their normal duties as Governor Gboyega Oyetola drives us to the next level of continuity in Social and infrastructural Development.”
