The Oyo State House of Assembly has passed a bill to officially rename Okeogun Polytechnic, Saki, after the late elder statesman, Chief Michael Adeniyi Koleoso.
The institution will now be known as Chief Michael Adeniyi Koleoso Polytechnic, Saki, in recognition of his significant contributions to the development of Okeogun and Oyo State.
The bill was passed following the presentation of a report by the Oyo State House of Assembly Committee on Education (Tertiary Institutions, Science, and Technology).
The Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Oluwafemi All-American, presented the report during a plenary session, where the bill was read and titled “Okeogun Polytechnic Saki Amendment Bill, 2024.”

Chief Michael Adeniyi Koleoso, who passed away on September 2, 2024, at the age of 86, was a respected political figure and statesman in Oyo State.
He served as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) from 1999 to 2003 during the administration of former Governor Lamidi Adesina. His political career also included being elected to the Oyo State House of Assembly in 1979 and serving as a commissioner under former governor Bola Ige the same year.
Until his death, Chief Koleoso held the traditional title of Babalaje of Saki land.
The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, stated that the renaming of the polytechnic was a way to honour and preserve the legacy of Chief Koleoso, acknowledging his pivotal role in the development of Okeogun and the state at large.
