Oyo Police Confirm Attack On Igangan Community By Gunmen

 

The Oyo State Police Command have confirmed the attack by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen on Sunday morning on the people of Igangan in Ibarapa local government, Oyo state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, said on Saturday around 2310hrs, an unknown number of assailants with dangerous weapons invaded Igangan town in an attempt to cause unrest.
Recall that Osun Defender had earlier reported that Many persons feared killed when unknown gunmen on Sunday morning invaded Igangan community.
It was learnt that the gunmen who were suspected to be Fulani herdsmen invaded the town around 11.pm on Saturday and left the town around 3.am on Sunday.
He added that the suspected gunmen were however repelled by a combination of Operational and tactical assets immediately deployed to the scene to restore normalcy.

He said the situation is being closely monitored and comprehensive investigations are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators.
