Oyo Speaker’s Death, A Political Vacuum – Osun Assembly Speaker

The death of the speaker Oyo State House of Assembly, Late Rt Hon. Michael Adeyemo has created a vacuum in view of his remarkable contributions to democratic sustenance in his home state, South West and the entire country at large.

Speaker State of Osun House of Assembly, Dr Najeem Salaam made the remark during a condolence visit by speakers of the South West to Oyo State House of Assembly over the death of their counterpart which occurred recently.

Dr Salaam described the death of Late Hon Adeyemo not only as sudden, but a monumental loss with a vacuum that would be difficult to fill.

He noted his contributions to the conference of speakers in the country and as chairman South West Conference of speaker, adding that the deceased would be greatly missed by his colleagues.

The speaker who lamented the closure of the chapter for the late Hon. Adeyemo prayed God to comfort Oyo legislators over the sudden death of their number one lawmaker.

Also, the speakers of Ekiti and Ogun States Houses of Assemblies in their separate remarks observed the attributes of the late speaker, saying the deceased has left his foot prints on the sand of time.

They however prayed God to give the family of the deceased and the bereaved lawmakers the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

On the entourage of Dr Salaam were number of legislators from Osun Assembly who on arrival of the Oyo State House of Assembly Complex Ibadan signed the condolence register.

Meanwhile, in his response the Deputy Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly Hon AbdulWasiu Musa recalled the last few hours of the late speaker in which he discussed with some members of the State Assembly without premonitions that death was lurking around.

He noted that no life can be lost without the knowledge of God, he appreciated the quantity and quality of condolence since the demise of his boss.

The speaker later visited the state governor Sen. Abiola Ajimobi where they condoled with the government and people of Oyo State.

Ajimobi described the late speaker as a good companion and a stabilising factor between the executive and legislature, stating that the deceased has distinguished himself in his political career, and lived his entire life in the service of humanity.

Therefore, governor Ajimobi who betrayed his emotion in the course of response appreciated the speaker for identifying with him and the people of the state in their trying time.

In a similar vein, the speaker also paid condolence visit to the family of late Ola Aresa of Masifa-Ile in Ejigbo Local government Oba Mathew Oyekale on the recent death of the monarch.

He commiserated with the family, chiefs and entire people of the town and prayed for repose of the soul of the royal father and fortitude to bear the loss.
