Palace Declares Curfew For Owa Obokun’s Coronation Rites

In preparation for the coronation of His Imperial Majesty, Owa Clement Adesuyi Hastruph, the Palace of Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, has declared a curfew across the town.

The curfew, which took effect from 9:30 pm on Monday, 24th March 2025, will last until 6:00 am on Tuesday, 25th March 2025.

According to a statement issued by High Chief Olalekan Folorunso, Loro Baba of Ijesa, the curfew is part of the traditional rites leading to the historic coronation of the new Owa Obokun.

Residents and visitors in Ijesaland have been enjoined to comply with the restriction on human and vehicular movement during the specified hours.

The palace emphasised that the curfew is in the interest of peace and security as the ancient town prepares to install its new monarch.

“The restriction order is a crucial part of the coronation process, aimed at upholding the customs and traditions of our land. We appeal to all residents to adhere strictly to this directive,” the statement read.

He assured the public that normal activities will resume immediately after the curfew is lifted at 6:00 am on Tuesday.
