Another drama unfolded at the premises of Lead British International School, Abuja, today as a woman suspected to be related to the viral student bullied by her school mates retaliated to the alleged bully.
In a video sighted by our correspondent, the woman later identified as the aunt of the girl who had been bullied confronted the alleged perpetrator and delivered a resounding slap to her face.
The school is owned by the lawmaker representing Obokun/Oriade federal constituency of Osun State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Oluwole Oke.
The video, which has since garnered significant attention on social media platforms, depicts the raw emotions and tensions surrounding the issue of bullying in schools.
Viewers witnessed the aunt’s visceral reaction to what she perceived as an act of injustice against her niece, culminating in the striking moment of retaliation. As a result of the escalating situation, Leads International School has decided to close its doors for the next three days.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Women Affairs Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, has been summoned to address the troubling incident and its broader implications.
The minister, who was seen in a trending video addressing the parents tried to douse the tension, calling for calm among the parents.
According to her: “I come with love, I didn’t come to fight the student, you are my children, but when I hear you cry, I come. So if don’t want me to come, don’t cry. Do you understand me? Because immediately any of you cries, the next few minutes you will see me land here. That is one of the main reasons why I am here”.
However, reactions to the video have been varied, with some commending the aunt for her swift action in standing up against bullying, while others caution against resorting to violence as a means of addressing such issues.
Social media users have expressed a range of opinions, reflecting the complex nature of the matter and the need for measured responses.
