Pastor Chris Okafor Surrenders to Police Amid Rape Allegations
The Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, has surrendered to the police following allegations of multiple rape and other offences capable of causing a breach of public peace, the Lagos State Police Command confirmed.
The case has been handed over to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Sylvester Alabi, for further investigation.
Okafor had failed to honour a police invitation on Monday, despite being summoned on Sunday by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, told TVC, “When he was invited, he got to us through his lawyer that he would appear on Monday. So, on Monday, we waited for him. We didn’t see him, and I directed that he should be arrested. Subsequently, he showed up yesterday (Tuesday). Yes, he showed up yesterday.”
CP Jimoh added that the matter had been transferred to Zone 2, explaining, “We later learned the same matter had been opened at the Zone 2 headquarters with the AIG in charge. He told me the matter has been investigated under his command for about three weeks now. Since he occupies a higher office than mine, we handed the matter back to Zone 2.”
Addressing complaints from alleged victims, Jimoh noted, “Social media has become a veritable space for people to lodge their complaints. We no longer wait for people to come and see the matter before we act in public interest, because if we don’t, the conduct can lead to a breakdown of law and order.”
The controversy began in mid-December 2025, when multiple allegations against Okafor surfaced online.
Nollywood actress Doris Ogala accused him of a long-term sexual relationship dating back to 2017, claiming he broke promises of marriage, shared explicit content, and contributed to the collapse of her previous marriage.
In response, Okafor reportedly apologised to his congregation on December 28, 2025, acknowledging past “mistakes” and kneeling at the pulpit to seek forgiveness.
Reports also indicate that the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria is considering disciplinary action, while the pastor has stepped aside from his duties as investigations continue.
The Lagos State Police Command assured that adequate security has been provided for alleged victims, with ongoing investigations at SCID, Panti, and Zone 2.
