Pastor Remanded For Raping Job Seeker

A pastor of a Pentecostal church located at Onipanu community in Lagos State, Abraham Olaluwoye, has been remanded in prison for allegedly raping a 27-year-old woman

According to the survivor, who shared her ordeal with City Round, the incident occurred on September 16.

She explained that Olaluwoye had called her to the church, claiming he had found her a job, but despite her family’s warnings, she went to the church, where Olaluwoye allegedly raped her in his office.

The survivor recounted: “When I told my parents and brother, they said I shouldn’t go. That Monday afternoon, when I was going to fetch water, I saw Pastor Abraham and greeted him and went my way, but later I saw his missed calls on my phone.”

She continued: “When I called him back, I told him I was busy, but he ordered me to come to his office right now that he had found a job for me. When I got there, I went to his school office and saw a church member there. When the pastor came in, he started talking to me about another thing that he had been watching me and he likes me.”

The survivor stated that she rejected Olaluwoye’s advances, telling him she doesn’t date married men or pastors and that they should discuss the job instead.

However, Olaluwoye allegedly persisted, saying he would give her a scholarship and started to touch his genitals.

“I felt uncomfortable and stood up to leave. He pushed me against the wall and raped me,” the survivor said.

Olaluwoye allegedly attempted to rape her again in the restroom but was resisted and he also offered her N4,000, which she rejected.

According to the survivor, the case was initially reported at Area ‘D’ Police Command in Mushin but was later withdrawn after they demanded N100, 000 and was transferred to the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Agency.

The Gender Unit charged the case to court, leading to Olaluwoye’s remand until November 5, 2024.
