The Ogun State Police Command said it is looking for a patient at the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Saba Elizabeth.
The patient reportedly fled the hospital on Saturday due to her inability to pay her medical bills after having treatment for an undisclosed disease.
The patient according to reports was admitted to the medical center’s gynecology unit on November 11, 2023, and was supposed to be discharged on November 16, 2023.
But she was unable to leave the hospital, due to her failure to pay her medical bill.
On the day she ran away, she was alleged to have lied to hospital staff that she went to buy food at a local store but never returned to the hospital.
The Chief Security Officer of the medical centre, Akpoji Joshua, reported the matter to the Kemta Police Division on Sunday after efforts to trace her proved abortive.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, told newsmen on Tuesday that the police in Kemta Division were assisting the hospital in locating the patient.
“We are investigating to unravel her whereabouts through her family members,” she simply stated.
