Pay Fines, Stop Bribing Officers, FRSC Boss Tells Motorists
The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has cautioned motorists against offering bribes to patrol officers, urging them to pay traffic violation fines through designated banks.
Speaking in Abuja on Monday, Mohammed said the corps has zero tolerance for bribery and corruption, insisting that any attempt by motorists to bribe personnel will lead to arrest and prosecution under the FRSC Establishment Act of 2007.
He said, “It is completely against the values, ethics and standard operating procedures of the corps for personnel to receive any form of gratification while on duty. The only legitimate way to settle fines is by paying into the designated banks. All fines go directly into the Treasury Single Account, not into any individual’s pocket.”
He warned that FRSC operatives must also desist from demanding or accepting bribes from motorists, calling on members of the public to report any such conduct.
According to him, complaints can be submitted via email to info@frsc.gov.ng, the FRSC Mobile App, or the Flag-It anti-corruption app. The public can also report misconduct through the corps’ social media platforms: Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and YouTube via @FRSCNigeria.
Mohammed commended Nigerians who have reported misconduct by operatives without resorting to violence, reiterating the corps’ commitment to professionalism and law enforcement.
He further urged road users to obey all traffic regulations concerning the movement of people, goods and animals across the country.
