PDP Accuses APC Of Masterminding Attacks in Osun

The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of masterminding violent attacks in the state, alleging that the opposition is desperate to turn Osun into a battlefield.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by its State Chairman, Sunday Bisi, the PDP described the recent assault in Isokan Local Government as a “politically motivated attack” allegedly carried out by hoodlums loyal to Bola Oyebamiji during what it called his “ill-fated political gathering” in the area.

According to the statement, “the unfortunate attack on residents of Isokan Local Government” was not an isolated incident but part of a deliberate attempt by the APC to destabilise the peace currently being enjoyed in the state.

Bisi condemned the incident as “a shameful display of irresponsibility by a man who has abandoned his national assignment for needless political brigandage in Osun State.”

He further criticised Oyebamiji, who holds a federal appointment, saying, “It is most unfortunate that a man whom President Bola Tinubu entrusted with a sensitive national duty has derailed completely. Rather than focusing on his federal duties, he now traverses Osun communities, causing chaos and endangering lives in pursuit of his selfish and delusional ambition.”

The PDP Chairman linked the clash in Apomu, which left several residents hospitalised, directly to Oyebamiji’s political activities. “This is a man who, only a day earlier, arrogantly visited Akinlalu, addressing the monarch where he made yet another empty promise in his usual manner of deceit and political theatrics,” he added.

Bisi described Oyebamiji’s conduct as “unbecoming of a federal appointee and a gross embarrassment to whoever he thinks he represents,” adding that “a man who cannot manage his own political emotions has no business managing a national agency.”

The party called on the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to “immediately investigate the attack and ensure that all perpetrators, no matter how highly placed, are brought to justice.”

“If Bola Oyebamiji himself is found culpable, he must be made to face the full weight of the law,” Bisi warned.

The PDP also cautioned the Osun APC against further provocation, insisting that “we will not sit idly by and allow the opposition to turn Osun into a battlefield. Our state has moved past the era of bloodletting and violence. Under Governor Ademola Adeleke, Osun is enjoying peace, progress, and responsible governance, and no desperate politician will be allowed to truncate that.”

Bisi appealed to residents to remain calm and law-abiding while security agencies investigate the matter, assuring that the Adeleke administration remains committed to maintaining peace and protecting lives and property in the state.

“Osun belongs to all of us, and we will not permit any individual, no matter how connected, to sow seeds of chaos in our peaceful land. Bola Oyebamiji and his cohorts must be reminded that the era of impunity is long over,” he concluded.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the APC nor Oyebamiji has responded to the allegations.
