The crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a new turn as former House of Representatives member, Tajudeen Yusuf, blamed the party’s 2023 presidential election loss on Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s overconfidence.

Speaking on the violent disruption of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, Yusuf warned that the opposition party might repeat its past mistakes if it fails to address internal conflicts.

According to him, “We lost the last election because I feel our flagbearer was too cocky and so sure he was the next president.”

He noted that the ongoing crisis is fueled by party members struggling for power and positioning themselves for the 2027 elections.

“What you have seen ahead of 2027 is that people are struggling for structure, for who controls what, and to become the party’s candidate.

“They forget the fact that being a candidate alone does not make you president,” he said.

Yusuf further criticised the PDP for not effectively nike air stab 10.5 for sale free printable women playing its role as the opposition, attributing the internal turmoil to overambitious politicians.

“The PDP is not playing opposition as it should because the PDP finds itself in the quagmire of over-ambitious men who believe they must always run for elections. A political party should be robust and not be about you running for election,” he stated.
