PDP Crisis: Only Damagum Can Explain Why He’s Misleading The Party – Ologbondiyan

Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Ologbondiyan, has said only the party’s acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, can explain why he is allegedly creating confusion and mismanaging the party.

Speaking on AIT’s Focus Nigeria programme, Ologbondiyan maintained that Damagum alone can address the reasons behind his actions, which, according to him, have thrown the party into disarray.

“It’s only Damagum that will come to the public and say this is why I’m misleading the party, this is why I’m not managing the party well, this is why I’m creating confusion in the party. He is the only one that can come out to say what’s responsible for that,” Ologbondiyan stated.

He added that any officeholder, no matter how small the role, owes it to the public to act justly and fairly.

“If you take the responsibility to hold an office, even as a pupil monitor in the classroom, you owe yourself the responsibility to act on the basis of what is fair, equitable, and just,” he said.

Ologbondiyan, who reiterated his longstanding call for Damagum to vacate the chairmanship, argued that the North Central zone should produce a substantive party chairman.

“I’m not surprised by whatever is happening. I have said it more than one year now that Damagum should go and take his seat and let North Central bring a substantive Chairman,” he added.

He further warned that the PDP may continue to lurch from one crisis to another under the current leadership.

“The feeling is that PDP will run from one crisis to another and, as you can see, they have opened the floodgate of crisis for the party,” he said.

Ologbondiyan also noted that PDP National Secretary, Sam Anyanwu, is currently in court against the party, raising further questions about internal coordination and leadership direction.
