The Forum of State Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed its total support for the party’s Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagun, while distancing itself from any factional leadership loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Rising from a meeting held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, and attended by 29 state chairmen, the forum declared Damagun as the authentic National Chairman of the PDP.

In a communiqué jointly signed by Tony Aziegbemi, Edo State Chairman and Chairman of the Forum, and Edward Mashal, Kaduna State Chairman and Secretary, the forum expressed confidence in Damagun’s leadership and commended the National Working Committee (NWC) for stabilising the party.

“The Forum unequivocally reaffirms its total support, confidence, and loyalty to the National Chairman of our great Party, Ambassador Umar Damagun, and the entire National Working Committee,” the communiqué stated.

The chairmen also hailed the judiciary for the “courageous and well-considered judgment” delivered by Justice Akintola, which cleared the way for the party’s National Elective Convention scheduled for November 15–16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

They urged all recognised delegates to prepare to participate in the convention and elect credible, competent, and loyal members into the NWC.

Commending the synergy between the NWC under Damagun, the PDP Governors’ Forum led by Senator Bala Mohammed, and the Board of Trustees (BOT) chaired by Senator Adolphus Wabara, the forum said such collaboration has helped stabilise and reposition the party.

The forum further emphasised the need for discipline within the party, urging state chapters to apply constitutional measures against members whose actions undermine party unity and cohesion.

Reiterating their commitment to the PDP’s unity and electoral success, the chairmen pledged continued cooperation with the national leadership to strengthen internal democracy and rebuild public trust.

They, however, disowned the faction led by Abdurahman, declaring that “the PDP has only one National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagun,” and warned that attempts to create a parallel leadership were aimed at destabilising the party.

The statement also noted the participation of PDP chairmen from the North Central zone, describing it as further evidence of their collective solidarity with the party’s national organs.

The forum concluded by restating its determination to uphold unity, discipline, and internal democracy as the PDP heads toward its national convention.
