Peter Obi Can’t Lift Nigeria Out of Poverty, Says Yul Edochie
Popular Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, has criticised former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, questioning his leadership ability and identity as an Igbo man.
Edochie described Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, as “not a true Igbo man” and said he lacks the qualities required for leadership.
The actor also claimed that Obi has not been able to lift people around him out of poverty, arguing that such a record makes him unfit to lead Nigeria.
In a post shared on his verified X handle on Friday, Edochie said, “He does not have the spirit of Ndi Igbo in him. He’s not a leader. The true spirit of Ndi Igbo is ‘onye aghana nwanne ya’. As you rise, you lift others.”
Edochie further questioned Obi’s impact despite his years in public office and business.
He said, “How can you spend many years in power, many years as a successful businessman, yet nobody can say he’s successful today because of you. You can’t even lift your family members.”
Presenting himself as more impactful, Edochie said some people in Nollywood attribute their success to him.
“In Nollywood, there are people who will tell you they’re successful today because of Yul Edochie.
“Not one person can say that about Peter Obi. Are you a sadist? What are you doing with the power God has given you?
“If you can’t lift people around you out of poverty, you simply can’t lift Nigeria out of poverty,” he added.
