The State Governor of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola on Saturday harvested Hybrid cucumber cultivated by the Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme (OYES) farmers’ brigade.
The first of its kind harvest was on the invitation of OYES management committee who has been responsible for many achievements the scheme has recorded.
Cucumber can be cultivated about four times in a year as it takes only two months of planting to harvest .
Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme OYES is a revolving 2-year volunteers scheme introduced on the 17th day of December, 2010 by Governor Rauf Aregbesola in less than 100 days as governor in fulfillment of a manifesto promise earlier made to the people.
The OYES scheme has empowered over 40,000 volunteers across the state to which unemployment indices has reduced in the state.
