The All Progressives Congress APC on Monday held its National Executive Committee Meeting.
The meeting witnessed the announcement of President Muhammadu Buhari’s intention to run for a second term in office in next year’s general elections.
At the meeting, the President also told the incumbent members of the National Working Committee of the party including embattled Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun that they can only return to their position through waiver.
He pointed out that based on the provision of Section 30 (1) (3), any officer currently serving and wants to seek re-election must resign their appointments 30 days before the election.
Buhari added that based on that provision, the current National Working Committee, NWC, and other officials across the states “are not eligible to run”.
Buhari stated that if the party wishes to grant such waiver, “a statement granting the waiver should be issued by the party immediately”.
Here are photos from the meeting attended by Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Bukola Saraki among other bigwigs of the party.
