PHOTOS: Fubara, Wike Attend Burial Ceremony Together In Port Harcourt
Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, was seen alongside the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, at a burial ceremony in Port Harcourt on Saturday.
The event comes just hours after both leaders attended a peace meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday night.
Lere Olayinka, spokesperson to Wike, confirmed the minister’s presence in Port Harcourt for the burial of his uncle in Rumuepirikom.

In an X post on Saturday, he wrote, “Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, alongside the Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule at the burial of Wike’s Uncle in Rumuepirikom, Rivers State today.”
Other lawmakers from the state assembly, including Martins Amaewhule, the suspended speaker, also reportedly attended the peace meeting hosted by Tinubu.
Fubara and Wike have been embroiled in a power tussle since 2023, which led to the polarisation of the state assembly and the demolition of its complex.
On March 18, 2025, President Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers due to the escalating political crisis and attacks on oil facilities.
He suspended both Fubara and the lawmakers and appointed a sole administrator to oversee the state for an initial period of six months.
