Chief David Isa, a monarch of Dorok Kingdom in the Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State has been freed after 7 days of abduction.
The monarch was abducted last Monday in his palace at about 8pm by gunmen numbering over 10 who took him to an unknown destination.
The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed the release of the traditional ruler.
A statement on Saturday by the command’s spokesman, Matthias Tyopev, said, “We wish to inform the general public that Chief David Isa has been released by his abductors unconditionally.
“The paramount ruler, who was kidnapped on November 19, 2018 regained his freedom today (Saturday, November 24, about 0010hrs).”
According to the police, the traditional ruler had been examined by some medical doctors and given a clean bill of health.
“His unconditional release became necessary when his kidnappers noticed that our men were closing in on them and the only option left for them was to release their victim.
“We thank the people of Plateau State for their patience and understanding, particularly the Dorok Kingdom for reposing their confidence in the police by allowing them to carry out a search-and-rescue operation without interference which led to the release of the monarch.
