Police Arraign Burglary Suspect In Court

Osun state police command has arraigned a 34-year-old man, Tunji James before an Osogbo magistrate court over alleged theft.
The accuse person was docked on five count charges bothering on house breaking and stealing
The Prosecutor, Rasaq Olayiwola informed the court that the accused person and one other at large on October 4, 2018 at about 2pm at Ibu Aje community Idi-Oro Oke Ijetu area Osogbo conspired among themselves to commit felony to wit house breaking and stealing of N85,000 property of Tawaklitu Yusuf.
He further said that the accused person on October 5, 2018 at 3am at Oke Baale Area Osogbo escaped from lawful custody with handcuff.
The prosecutor submitted that the offence committed contravene section 516,411,412,360(9),135(2) of criminal code cap 34 vol II laws of Osun state of Nigeria 2003
The accused person pleaded not guilty to all the charges alleged against him by the police, claiming he was mistaken for someone else.
The defence counsel, D.D Adegbola told the court to grant the accused person bail in the most liberal terms, assuring the court that he will provide credible surety.
Presiding Magistrate, Mr. O.T Badmus granted bail to the accused person in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties, who must swear to an affidavit of means.
Mr. Badmus said one of the sureties must be a relative and the other to possess three years tax clearance certificate to be verified by the police.
The case was adjourned to October 23, 2018 for hearing.
