Police Arraign Former Member For Stealing Church’s Musical Instruments
The police on Thursday, arraigned a 30-year-old man, Ali Salisu, before a Lugbe Grade I Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing musical instruments worth N1.8 million from a church.
Salisu, a resident of Waru village in Kabusa, Abuja, is charged with housebreaking and theft.
Earlier, the prosecuting counsel, Mr. S. O. Osho, told the court that the defendant broke into the church (name withheld) run by Pastor Bimbo Okoli of House 4 plot 2B, Super Cell Shara 1 Estate, Kabusa, Abuja.
Osho said the defendant, who once worked for the church, stole an amplifier, generator cable, and drum sets, all valued at N1.8 million.
The offence according to the prosecutor, contravened the provisions of sections 312 and 322 of the penal code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The judge, Malam Aliyu Kagarko, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N3 million with one surety in like sum.
The judge adjourned the case until April 17 for further hearing.
