Police Arraign Nursing Mother Over Visa Scam In Osun

A 26-year-old woman, Oluwafunmilayo Oloyede, has been arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrate Court for allegedly involving in a visa scam.

Oloyede, a nursing mother, was alleged of conspiring with one Sikiru Adeoti to receive a sum of N1,500,000 from one Ridwan Olanrewaju on the pretence of getting him a visa to travel out of the country.

The accused person was arraigned on a three-count charge of stealing, fraud and conspiracy.

According to the charge sheet obtained by OSUN DEFENDER yesterday, the defendant committed the offence in the month of September 2022 in Osogbo.

The alleged offence contravened Sections 516, 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol.II, Laws of Osun State, 2002.

But the accused person pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Defence counsel, Kehinde Adepoju, prayed the court to admit the defendant to bail on liberal term, noting that she was a nursing mother and would provide reliable sureties.

In his ruling, the presiding Magistrate, A.O Daramola admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties.

The case was adjourned till February 24, 2023 for hearing.
