Police Arraigns 40-Year-Old Man Over Alleged Fraud Of N255,500

The Osun State police command has arraigned a 40-year-old man, Ogundipe Kayode before a Magistrate Court in Osogbo, Osun State for allegedly stealing some kilogrammes of cat fish belonging to Ogungbadega Gbenga.
Kayode was arraigned on a two-count charge bothering on false pretence and stealing of which he pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him.
The prosecutor, Inspector Adegoke Taiwo told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometimes in December, 2017 at Oroki Estate in Osogbo.
He explained that the accused person obtained some kilogrammes of cat fish valued N245,000 and one bag of fish feed worth N6500, all valued N255,500 with the pretence that he wanted to assist the complainant to sell.
The prosecutor submitted that the offence contravenes section 419,390 which is punishable under section 290(d) of the criminal code cap 34 vol. 11 laws of Osun State 2003.
Defence counsel, Mrs. B Y Adeyinka, urged the court to grant her client bail in the most liberal and affordable terms.
Adeyinka assured the court that the suspect was ready to provide a reliable surety if granted bail.
The magistrate, M.A Awodele granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
One of the sureties must reside within the court jurisdiction, one of which must be a civil servant and sworn to affidavit means.
The case was adjourned to May 28 for hearing.
