By Yusuf Oketola

THE State of Osun Command of the Nigeria Police Force has arrested two suspects in connection with the bloody failed bank robberies that occurred in Ikire and Apomu on June 2, 2021.

It would be recalled that about 35 dare-devil armed robbers stormed Ikire and Apomu in Irewole and Isokan Local Government Areas respectively around 5:30pm on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 with five different vehicles.

Two policemen, ASP Osho Oluranti, Inspector Lekan Olalere, two Special Constabularies, Oladeni Olalekan and Oyedeji Muyideen, and three residents of Apomu, Toheeb Oyebola, Temilorun Adebiyi and Segun Olamoyero were shot dead by the armed robbers in the unsuccessful operations.

However, OSUN DEFENDER gathered that the Police have arrested two suspects, Olufemi Adedeji and Olatunji Oladipo in connection with the raid.

According to investigations, the suspects were arrested on Monday, June 21, 2021 in Ikire.

The medium got the information on the arrest of the suspects in a motion exparte filed at an Osogbo magistrate’s court on Wednesday, by the Police.

The Police were asking the court to grant a prayer of remanding the suspects in their custody for 14 days.

Attached to the motion was an eight paragraph affidavit disposed to by the Investigating Police Officer on the case, Inspector Nurudeen Akanni and presented to the court by the Police prosecutor, Inspector Elisha Olusegun.

The Police argued in the motion exparte that the IPO needed time to extend investigation to Delta State to apprehend the fleeing suspects and recover exhibits, adding that releasing them will hamper proper investigations on the case.

However, Magistrate Adekanmi Adeyeba ordered that the two respondents to be remanded in Police custody for 14 days pending the completion of investigation on the matter.
