Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a 21-year-old suspect, Samson Onilewaji, after he was allegedly found with a suspected human hand, two locally made pistols and other incriminating items during a stop-and-search operation along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

The command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, saying the suspect was travelling in an unregistered commercial shuttle bus with five other passengers when the vehicle was intercepted during a routine police operation.

She said officers searched the vehicle and its occupants, leading to the discovery of a suspected human right hand, two locally made pistols, one live cartridge, two axes, a Point of Sale (POS) terminal and five ATM cards in the suspect’s possession.

Adebisi said the suspect allegedly confessed to recently robbing three people of their belongings, including the recovered POS terminal and ATM cards.

She added that detectives had launched an investigation to determine the identity of the owner of the suspected human hand, how the suspect came into possession of it and what it was intended to be used for.

According to the police spokesperson, efforts are also ongoing to identify and arrest other suspects linked to the case.

She said the suspect would be charged to court after investigations are concluded.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Tijani Olaiwola Fatai, assured residents of the command’s commitment to tackling violent crime and other criminal activities.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to support crime prevention and enhance public safety.
