The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three suspects in connection with the recent communal clash involving Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin-Osun communities.

OSUN DEFENDER reports that the suspects were apprehended for violating the 24-hour curfew imposed by the state government and were found in possession of a Dane gun.

The renewed hostilities, which erupted in the early hours of 21st March 2025, resulted in murder, arson, and widespread destruction of lives and properties.

In a statement on Monday issued by the Acting Police Public Relations Officer, SP Akeem Adeoye, the Command disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Abba, had ordered the deployment of security operatives to the warring areas to restore peace and order.

“The Command, in collaboration with personnel of other sister security agencies, will do everything humanly possible to prevent further bloodshed and breakdown of law and order through strict enforcement of the 24-hour curfew declared by the Executive Governor of the State, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, in the areas affected,” the statement read.

The police assured the public that a thorough investigation would be conducted, and the arrested suspects would be charged to court accordingly.

Meanwhile, the Command reiterated its commitment to closely monitoring the situation to identify and apprehend other troublemakers and their sponsors.

Residents of the affected communities have been urged to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as efforts to restore lasting peace continue.
