The State of Osun Police Command have arrested five hoodlums over the murder of a 42 years old man, Wakili Olayiwola, in Arulogun, Ede, on Thursday.
OSUN DEFENDER gathered that the hoodlums who were about 30 in number, attacked the victim house and rained bullet on his building.
It was learnt that a toyota corolla car belonging to the victims was set ablaze by the hoodlums, while attempting to raze the building.
Police Public Relations Officer, Osun Command, Mrs Yemisi Opalola, confirmed this in a press statement today.
According to Opalola, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Wale Olokode, deployed policemen to the area after a distress call was made.
She said the hoodlums, on sighting the police, escaped into various directions and they were chased towards Bode area of Ede town.
Opalola disclosed that five of the suspects were arrested.
She listed the arrested hoodlums as: “Suleiman Babatunde (39), Saka Taofeek ( 35), Raimi Saheed (21), Akinloye Qowiyu (23) and Sadiq Alatise (25).
According to her, “Information gathered that the hoodlums had killed two persons, simply identified as Rilwan Kareem (23) of Oke Bode area of Ede and Taofeek (21) of Arunlogun.
“The corpses were deposited at mortuary for autopsy, exhibits recovered from the suspects were one single barrel gun, one dane gun, eight expended cartridges, axes, cutlasses criminal charms and five motorcycles.
“During the encounter, 48 rounds of Ak.47 ammunition were expended.”
She added that investigations were ongoing into the matter.
Opalola said the Commissioner of Police has vowed to arrest all the escaped suspects and ensure that they all face the wrath of the law.
