Police Arrest For Alleged Killing, Burial Of 15-Year-Old Son
The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man who allegedly beat his 15-year-old son to death and secretly buried the body within their family compound.
The incident happened at Uhe Community, Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State.
Police reports indicate that the tragic incident occurred at about 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2025, when the suspect allegedly assaulted the teenager with a stick, inflicting fatal injuries.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASP Eno Ikoedem, disclosed the arrest in a statement on Sunday.
She said the suspect, whose identity was withheld, allegedly attempted to conceal the crime by digging a shallow grave within the family compound and burying the corpse.
According to ASP Ikoedem, credible intelligence provided by the victim’s mother and grandmother led to the arrest of the suspect.
She revealed that the grandmother, an 82-year-old woman and the suspect’s mother, resides in the same household.
“The suspect allegedly dug a grave within the compound and buried the corpse in a bid to cover up the crime.
“The deceased’s grandmother, who is also the suspect’s mother, provided useful information to the police, which aided our investigation,” the statement said.
She added that following due administrative procedures, the grave was exhumed, photographs were taken for evidential purposes, and the stick allegedly used to commit the offence was recovered as an exhibit.
ASP Ikoedem informed that while the suspect is currently in police custody and investigations are ongoing, the suspect will be charged in court upon the conclusion of police inquiries.
