Men of the Nigeria Police Force have
arrested a 28-year-old man, Taofeeq
Atanda for allegedly buying a stolen vehicle.
Atanda was said to have bought a Mazda Bus with Reg. No XA 841 KSP valued N350,000.
The suspect, who was arraigned in court on Wednesday for conspiracy and stealing, allegedly committed the offence with others at large on April 16, 2020 at KobapeHospital Road, Iwo.
According to the charge sheet read in court, the allegations were punishable under Sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. II Laws of Osun state, 2002.
But the accused person pleaded not guilty to the two-count charges.
He told the court that he bought the vehicle from a known person in Delta state, saying that he never knew it was a stolen property.
Defence counsel, Praise Ofoyaju applied for the bail of the accused person on the most liberal terms, saying that the suspect was presumed innocent until contrary is proved in court.
The Magistrate, Dr Oluwasegun Ayilara granted bail to the accused person in sum N500, 000 with one surety.
He thereafter adjourned the case till May 21, 2020 for mentioning in Iwo Magistrate court.
