Police Arrest Notorious Armed Robber With Two AK47 Rifles, N4.9m

The Kano State Police Command has apprehended a notorious armed robber, Hassan Iliya, 35, and recovered two AK-47 rifles with 47 live ammunition rounds and N4.9 million in cash.

According to Police Spokesman Abdullahi Kiyawa, the arrest followed a report by a resident of Yandadi Village, Kunchi Local Government Area, who was attacked and robbed of N15 million by armed robbers on Monday.

Against this backdrop, Commissioner of Police Salman Garba directed a team of detectives to conduct intelligence-led patrols, leading to Iliya’s arrest while attempting to escape on a motorcycle.

A search revealed a sack containing the AK-47 rifles, ammunition, and cash. The Commissioner has ordered an investigation into the case.

โ€œOn the same day, the team arrested the principal suspect, Hassan Iliya, of Alhazawa Village, Musawa local government area of Katsina State, while attempting to escape on a motorcycle.

โ€œA spot search revealed a sack containing two AK-47 Rifles with 47 rounds of live ammunition and cash totaling four million, nine hundred, and eighty-six thousand naira,โ€ Kiyawa said.

Kiyawa disclosed that the police commissioner has ordered an investigation into the case, urging the public to remain patriotic
