Osun state Police command has arrested a gang of robbers’ days after they have attacked corp members’ lodge with guns and cutlasses in Modakeke, Osun State.
The Commissioner of Police, Osun Command, Mr Fimihan Adeoye, said the suspected armed robbers had attacked the Youth Corps Members lodge and carted away their mobile phones and other important items on February 6, 2018.
“A gang of armed robbers attacked some youth corps members in Modakeke, at about 02:00hour. The Youth Corps Members were dispossessed of their phones and some other valuable items”, The commissioner said.
He further explained that, before the police got to the scene, the robbers had escaped. A team of police detective commenced the investigation which led to the arrest of the robbers.
“Our police detectives commenced the investigation and I am happy to let you know that the police detectives attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad working in close liaise with the Area Commander of Ife have succeeded in arresting every member of that gang,” he added.
The C.P further emphasised that the police had also succeeded in recovering most of the things that were stolen from the Youth Corps Members.
Adeoye disclosed that in the cause of the investigation two of the criminal receivers were also arrested.
He also stated that the investigative detectives had also succeeded in arresting the fellow that is supplying the suspects’ weapons, firearms and cartridges.
The commissioner said the suspects had been apprehended and are facing proper prosecution.
He then assured the people of the State that the command will not rest on its oars in making arrest and ensuring the safety of lives and property of residents.
