Police Arrests Cult Group Leader In Osogbo

The special anti-cultism squad of the Osun State Police Command has arrested a man, Afeez Alade, popularly known as Esubiyi, who is alleged to be the second-in-command of Eiye Confraternity in Osogbo.
It was learnt that the arrest was made in collaboration with the team of Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) on Saturday night at Jaleyemi area in Osogbo.
The suspected cult leader according to a source, was learnt to have been on the wanted list of the security agents for several months and was arrested with a pistol and two rounds of live ammunition were found on the suspect when he was arrested.
It was also gathered that few months ago, the third-in-command in the cult group, Seyi Adesoji, popularly known as Oosa, was arrested by the special anti-cultism squad of the State Police Command.
The Police Public Relations Officer for the Osun Police Command, Folasade Odoro, confirmed the arrest of the suspect to journalist in the state.
She said Alade was arrested during a stop and search operation in Osogbo.
The news of arrest of Alade was greeted with jubilation, especially in the neighbourhood where he was caught.
Meanwhile, residents of Egbatedo in Osogbo have also lamented the terror of the cult groups in the area.
Some of the victims who preferred anonymity and also a commercial motorcyclists said, the area has become a dreadful place, as people are afraid to walk freely in the area.
A resident, told this medium that the area has become the hideout of different groups of cultists and added that the hoodlums in the area have become terrors for the law abiding residents of the community.
