THE State of Osun Police Command has condemned the increasing rate of child molestation and indecency going on in the state lately.
In a press statement issued and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Yemisi Opalola, and made available to OSUN DEFENDER on Wednesday, the police noted that the case of sexual harassment of children is now rampant in the state.
The police warned unscrupulous elements behind the act to desist or face the wrath of the law, just as they advised parents and guardians to monitor their children/wards and beware of some people pretending to be friends, relatives and assistants who might want to abuse the relationship to carry out their evil plans.
The statement reads, “The Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, Olawale Olokode, is using this medium to condemn in totality, the tide of child molestation in the state and gives stern note of warning to the unscrupulous elements in the act to desist or face the wrath of the law.
“It would be noted that, in recent time, there are reports of child sexual harassment in some parts of the state and as such, the police in the state will not fold its hands and allow these misguided elements continue abusing our children.
“In view of this, the Commissioner of Police enjoins the general public to partner with the Police, by providing adequate and useful information that will enable the command nip in the bud such nefarious act before being carried out.
“Parents and guardians are hereby advised to monitor their children/wards and beware of some people pretending to be friends/relatives/assistants to enable them carry out their evil plans.”
