The Enugu State Police Command through the command’s Spokesman, SP Ebere Amaraizu, revealed it has taken its Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) to markets, schools, NYSC Orientation camp and communities, among other areas.
Amaraizu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Monday that the command would stop at nothing in its ongoing campaign to eradicate cult activities in the state, especially in schools.
“The command team on the POCACOV campaign drawn from its Police Public Relations Department has visited Ameke Ngwo community; 9th Mile Square as well as Christ the King Parish, Okpokolo in Ngwo during the women August meeting last year.
“The team also visited Iwollo Oghe community where members of the community and students were engaged at the Enugu State Polytechnic, Iwolo in Ezeagu Local Government Area.
“Other areas that the team had visited included Enugu North Local Government Area and Enugu South Local Government Area councils’ Hall where invited stakeholders and youths were sensitised.
“The team, not relenting in its efforts, had also visited Government Secondary School, Enugu, Nike Grammar School and Moore house Primary School.
“The team also had constant lectures/sensitisation for various batches of youths corps members during their orientation at the permanent orientation camp at Awgu as well as other informal sensitisation meetings on the same issue,’’ he said.
The police spokesman said the team had also partnered with the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Enugu State Command, to produce sensitisation radio jingles against cult activities and related vices.
