The Lagos state police command has declared Primeboy, a friend of the late singer Mohbad, wanted.
Primeboy, born Owodunni Ibrahim, is a person of interest in the death of Mohbad, 27.
The street pop singer died on September 12 and was buried the next day.
There were reports on social media claiming Mohbad and Primeboy had a rift before his demise.
Primeboy, however, denied allegations of an altercation with the deceased singer.
In a statement via X on Wednesday, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos police spokesperson, said Primeboy failed to comply with the invitation regarding investigation into Mohbad’s death.
The statement, with a detailed information of the suspect, offered a reward of N1 million to anyone with useful information that will lead to his arrest.
“Following his failure to honour police invitation successfully sent to him since the commencement of investigation into the circumstances leading to the death of Mr Ilerioluwa Aloba aka Mohbad, the Lagos State Police Command hereby declares wanted Owodunni Ibrahim aka Primeboy,” the statement reads.
“Ibrahim is approximately 1.64-m tall, male, dark-complexioned with tribal marks and Yoruba by tribe. His last known address is 3rd Power, Oke Eletu, Ikorodu.
“If seen, contact the nearest police station or call 0803 688 5727. The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Idowu Owohunwa, hereby offers a handsome reward of N1,000,000 (One Million Naira Only) to anyone with useful information leading to his arrest.”
Thousands of Nigerians have demanded justice for Mohbad in nationwide protests.
On September 18, the Lagos police inaugurated a 13-man special investigation team to probe the singer’s death.
Idowu Owohunwa, the state commissioner of police, vowed that the command will use all its powers to fish out everyone indicted in the case.
On September 21, the police exhumed Mohbad’s corpse for autopsy and are awaiting the results.
The Lagos police on Tuesday announced it now has Naira Marley in its custody for interrogation.
Sam Larry was also detained on September 29.
