The police are expecting the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, to appear before the Force Intelligence Response Team office at Guzape, Abuja today.
It was gathered that a team of detectives has been directed to attend to Saraki if he honoured the summons extended to him on Monday by the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.
It is, however, unclear if the Senate President will honour the Police invitation over his alleged links to the masterminds of the April 5 Offa bank robberies.
However, the atmosphere at the FIRT office is tense as more armed policemen have been deployed in the area in expectation of the senate president.
Meanwhile, some youths have protested against the siege against the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu‘s residence, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission operatives.
The personnel had besieged the Ekweremadu’s Apo residence early on Tuesday morning apparently to prevent him from attending the plenary at the National Assembly.
A letter of invitation from the EFCC asking Ekweremadu to appear at its office later surfaced on social media.
