State of Osun Police Command have arrested eight members of a high-profile, serial kidnapping syndicate at Omo Ijesa village in Osun.
The suspects were arrested on 7th May, 2021 sequel to credible intelligence the command received and acted upon in a follow-up on a case of the kidnap of a 65-year-old, Mrs. Akiishi Catherine in Benue State. The operation was led by the Commissioner of Police, Osun Command, CP Olawale Olokode, psc.
The was disclosed in a press statement released by Police Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola and made available to Osun Defender Correspondent in osogbo on Saturday.
Police investigations revealed that the suspects relocated to Osun after the kidnap of the woman as a deceptive tactics to avoid arrest by the Police in Benue State. The suspects have also planned to use Osun as a safe haven for the negotiation and collection of ransom even after murdering the woman in cold blood.
The suspects are: Orikashima David (AKA Cash money) ‘m’ aged 22years, Teryange Demenogo (AKA Small) ‘m’ aged 22years, Terngu Tortindi (AKA Kareen) ‘m’ aged 25years, Anawuese Akough ‘f’ aged 19years, Mbalumulum Kaorga ‘f’ aged 18years, Comfort Terdoo ‘f’ aged 22years, Michael Msendoo ‘f’ aged 19years, Aondoaseer Terver ‘m’ 21years, all Tivs from Benue State.
According to her, “Police investigations revealed that the suspects have murdered the kidnap victim, Mrs. Akiishi Catherine, in Benue State before relocating to Osun . The suspects also revealed to the Police team how they have murdered three (3) other victims in their previous operations. The suspects would be handed over to the Benue State Police Command as soon as preliminary investigations are concluded”, she added.
The CP, while commending his men for a job well done, reassured citizens that there will be no hiding place for criminals in the State. He notes that the new policing vision of the Inspector General of Police, Ag. IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc (+), NPM, fdc is already assisting the command in redefining its strategies toward combating crimes in the State.
The CP further calls for the support and collaboration of all the citizens in the State as all hands must be on deck to rid the State of all criminal elements threatening the socio-economic peace, security and safety of the people.
