Police Nab Eight Over Cult Killings Near YABATECH
Eight suspects have been arrested by the police in connection with a wave of cult-related killings near the Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) in Lagos.
The arrests followed a tactical, intelligence-led operation conducted on Tuesday.
The suspects — Adeyemo Abdulsamad (24), alias “Cloud”; Afeez Enitan (28); Ayomide Daniel (30); Olamilekan Adeagbo (26), alias “Skinny”; Mayor Samson (28); Basit Ishola (20); Quadri Sikiru (26); and Mariam Salihu (23) — are believed to be members of cult groups responsible for recent violence in the area.
According to Lagos Police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, the operation led to the recovery of dangerous weapons, including a Beretta pistol, four rounds of 9mm ammunition, one cartridge, two battle axes, and two cutlasses.
He explained that the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Olohundare Jimoh, commended the efforts of the command’s tactical units and the Eko Strike Force.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order, especially around educational institutions.
“Our tactical operatives are working round the clock to dismantle criminal networks and cult groups that threaten public safety,” said CP Jimoh.
“We urge residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to the nearest police station.”
Hundeyin also confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspects’ involvement in cultism and related violent crimes.
The Lagos State Police Command has reassured the public that “all arrested individuals will face the full weight of the law as authorities continue their crackdown on cult-related violence across the state,” he added.
