Police Nab Kebbi Man Suspected For Killing Wife
Sule Gurmu, the man accused of killing his wife, Umaima Maidawa, in an alleged case of domestic violence, has been apprehended by the Kebbi State Police Command.
Gurmu reportedly struck his 25-year-old wife with the wooden handle of a hoe on January 13, 2026 during a domestic dispute at their residence in Bayawa.
Police confirmed Umaima died shortly after the attack, leading to a swift investigation by security agencies.
Gurmu was said to have fled Bayawa days after the killing but was eventually apprehended on Saturday in Katami town, Silame Local Government Area of Sokoto State, following a directive by the Chairman of Augie Local Government, Yahaya Augie, ordering security agencies to ensure the suspect’s immediate arrest.
The operation was jointly executed by the Nigeria Police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.
